Verisyse™Verisyse™ is proven to correct moderate to severe nearsightedness. Verisyse™ Phakic Intraocular Lens provides "precision vision," a high-tech, yet simple procedure that not only can improve your vision, but also your life.
The Procedure
The procedure involves placing the Verisyse™ IOL inside your eye to provide high-quality, high-definition vision without the need for glasses or contacts in most situations. Although Verisyse™ is intended to be permanent, the micro lens can be removed if desired.
The Verisyse™ Phakic IOL implantation is an outpatient treatment that usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes. One eye is treated at a time and the procedure typically goes as follows:
- Eye drops will be given to reduce your pupil size.
- Your doctor will use an instrument to comfortably hold your eyelids open during the procedure.
- A local and/or IV anesthetic is given, so the procedure is virtually painless.
- A small incision is made in the cornea for Verisyse™ to be inserted in the space between the iris and the cornea.
- The Verisyse™ IOL is centered in front of the pupil and is gently attached to the iris to hold the lens in place.
- The small incision is closed with microscopic stitches.
- A temporary shield will be placed over your eye to protect it during and after the procedure.
You may be a good candidate for Verisyse™ Phakic IOL if:
- You are at least 21 years old.
- Your eyes are healthy with no eye disease, iris, pupil, or corneal abnormality, or history of retinal detachment.
- Your nearsightedness can be corrected with lenses between -5.0 to -20.0 diopters.
- You have 2.5 diopters or less or astigmatism.
- Your eyes are stable and your nearsightedness has not changed more than 0.50 diopters for 6 months prior to surgery.
- You are not currently pregnant or nursing.
- There is not another vision correction procedure that provides a better alternative for your visual condition.
The ReZoom™ Multifocal lens may be a good option for you if you have been diagnosed with cataracts and especially if you are farsighted. ReZoom™ is a clear foldable implant made of a high refractive index acrylic material.
The Procedure
In most cases, the entire procedure is performed through a micro-incision while the patient is fully awake. During the procedure, the natural lens is removed and the ReZoom™ Multifolca lens replaces it. The whole procedure usually takes 15 minutes. Vision is restored immediately in most cases; however, vision usually continues to improve in the weeks following the procedure.
The Good ReZoom™ Candidate
You may be a good candidate for ReZoom™ if you are diagnosed with cataracts and are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:
- Difficulty reading.
- Difficulty seeing close objects.
- Difficulty seeing to drive, especially at night.
- Changing glasses prescriptions.
- Needing bifocals.
AcrySof® ReSTOR® is the only IOL that uses apodized diffractive technology to provide cataract patients with and without presbyopia a quality range of vision. The lens itself is a foldable IOL that uses a combination of three complementary technologies: apodization, diffraction and refraction, to allow patients to experience a full range of vision without the need for reading glasses or bifocals.
The Procedure
The actually surgery and implantation of the ReSTOR® IOL itself is a relatively quick procedure. IT is performed in a sterile operating room and typically takes 10 to 15 minutes from start to finish. Strong anesthetics are used to make the eye numb. This is done since the external part of the eye has many nerve fibers. However, the lens itself has no nerve fibers so pain in this area is not possible. Some patients do report a pressure sensation.
The Good ReSTOR® Candidate
You may be a good ReSTOR® candidate if:
- You have a normal eye exam.
- You are dependent on reading glasses or bifocals.
- You are in good health.
